Here, Bryan Eaton of www.AbrahamLincolnUS.com and www.LincolnBicentennialUS.com has digitally restored the two procession photos. Mr. Eaton has been meticulously restoring Lincoln photographs for a book and video documentary called "Color of Lincoln" to be released in 2008.

While the jury may still be out on the authenticity of Lincoln in the photos, you can judge for yourself here.
Please consider the folllowing:
- The images released from the Library of Congress website are reversed. The restored images have been corrected.
- Mr. Eaton points out that the person considered to be Abraham Lincoln is shown in white gloves and obviously saluting. The blur of the gloved right hand indicates a salute. It would seem highly unlikely that any other civilian member of the procession that day would be saluting.
Judge for yourself.
(Note: Lincoln's location above is on the left about one inch from the left hand margin)
